By the entrance, a foundation stone bears the date of the house. AÑO MDCC, the year 1700. The olive-oil mill has presided over this land ever since. Whitewashed walls, Arabic tile roofs, a tower crowned with a small dome, and doorways framed in almagra red over rounded arches that can be made out from the road.
Inside, the main hall brings together timber beams and great rounded arches of exposed brick, some eight metres high, suited to a wide range of uses. An adjoining room keeps carved timber beams and corbels above a floor of solid rustic brick. And a courtyard with its well.
Palms, cypresses and shade-giving chinaberry trees surround the broad forecourt. The mill has worked for three centuries and remains cared for and in use, with the soundness of things built to last.
The Seville campiña is among Andalusia's most storied cereal and olive-growing districts. The estate's land, 90.66 hectares in all with some 90 arable, is among the finest this district offers. Deep, reddish-brown soils of remarkable natural fertility.
The terrain is largely flat, with gentle undulations that favour natural drainage without hindering mechanised farming. It is fully suited to dryland cereal (wheat, sunflower, legumes) and to olive plantation, a crop well established on the neighbouring parcels.
The parcels are well grouped and served by perimeter tracks. Access is from a paved road along a country lane in good condition.
